Top 30 TV Shows of the Decade

With a passion for music, a love of list-making, and a whole lotta bias for female pop music, I sat down this month to think about my top songs from the last ten years. 

My initial list started out as objective as possible, but then when I looked at the songs I picked, I realized about 15 of them weren't songs that I truly loved - just ones that I thought were well made or impactful. I reassessed and decided to only keep songs that I really loved during this decade, which, I will warn you, does result in a few repeat artists (though I tried to restrain myself). 

Most of my list is filled with female pop stars, but who am I kidding? Most of my life is filled with female pop stars too!

I hope you enjoy and maybe listen to some new songs too.

30. How I Met Your Mother

A disappointing series finale often eclipses the genius that this sitcom showed for most of its run. Using time jumps cleverly, How I Met Your Mother was able to tell a story in reverse while having it's audience stay entertained and invested in the central mystery.

28. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

26. How To Get Away With Murder

09/25/2014 - Present

A knockout (and history making) performance by Viloa Davis elevates this ABC thriller among other broadcast dramas today. Add in amazing diversity and never before seen representation for queer people, and this show becomes one for the books.

25. The Office

03/24/2005 - 05/16/2013

With only three "good" seasons airing this decade, the Office places a lot lower than I had expected. There may be times that it might have felt as though the Office had its course, but with episodes like "Niagra" and "Goodbye Michael," it proved that even later seasons of a sitcom can pack a lot of punch.
